Playing at Museum Kranenburgh
Starting Saturday, April 23, 2022, you can get creative with friends and family at the Let’s play Galapagos! exhibition at Museum Kranenburgh. In the Garden Room, graphic designer Felix Salut invites visitors to play the Galapagos Game and give their imagination free rein.
Creative with shapes and lines
Named after the Galapagos Islands, home to a huge number of unique animal species, Galapagos Game consists of building blocks with nine shapes and lines that can be combined in an infinite number of ways. By placing the building blocks next to each other or stacking them on top of each other, players can freely create letters, words, stories, and drawings within the framework of the game.
Workshops with the artist are part of the public program.
Large 3D blocks
The idea for Galapagos Game originated from a game Felix Salut created for his film Shut Up I’m Counting! (2014). When he saw his four- and six-year-old children playing with it, he realized how many unexpected possibilities the game offers. The game, the first version of which was purchased by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in 2017, now exists in various versions. Especially for this exhibition, Salut enlarged the original version into large 3D building blocks.
The museum as a place of creation
Let’s Play Galapagos! is part of a series of participatory exhibitions at Museum Kranenburgh in which visitors get to work themselves: the museum as a place of creation.
