The Supervisory Board of Museum Kranenburgh in Bergen is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Bos as the museum’s new director. Bos, until recently Head of Exhibitions at Museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar, will succeed Adriana González Hulshof on 1 September 2026. González Hulshof has successfully led the museum over the past five years. Under her leadership, Museum Kranenburgh developed an attractive and distinctive exhibition programme while strengthening its operations through stable management and a sound financial foundation.
With Barbara Bos, the museum welcomes an experienced professional who is accustomed to working in artistic and business environments, with responsibility for both vision and execution. Tillie van der Poel, Chair of the Supervisory Board, said: “The quality and calibre of the applications we received for this position were exceptionally high. We selected Barbara because we were looking for someone with a broad range of talents. For a director of this museum, it is ideal to be versatile and comfortable in many different areas. Her museum background, extensive experience, and hands-on mentality made the difference.”
Barbara Bos
Barbara Bos (1985) studied Art History in Amsterdam and London and Museum Studies in Amsterdam. Bos recently stepped down from her role as Head of Exhibitions at Museum Voorlinden (Wassenaar, the Netherlands), where she was a member of the management team and shared responsibility for the museum’s artistic programme and strategic direction over the past ten years. She was also closely involved in the founding of Voorlinden. She developed and curated numerous exhibitions in collaboration with international artists, as well as collection displays and accompanying publications, including: Claire Tabouret (2026), Mark Manders (2025), Alicja Kwade (2024), Anselm Kiefer (2023), Antony Gormley (2022) and Do Ho Suh (2019). Bos serves on the board of the theatre company De Warme Winkel and was a member of the selection committee for Sculpture Park, Art Rotterdam in 2025 and 2026. She is also active as a speaker, presenter, and moderator.

Museum Kranenburgh presents art ranging from the early twentieth century to contemporary works and is surrounded by a sculpture garden and the lush greenery of Bergen (45 minutes from Amsterdam). Over the past ten years, it has grown into a nationally recognised museum with a distinctive identity, attracting approximately 70,000 visitors annually. With an engaging art collection – including works from the Bergense School – and a diverse, thought-provoking exhibition programme, the museum aims to inspire all generations while keeping the artistic legacy of the artists’ village of Bergen alive.
