Lecture Iwan Baan

Garden room
14.00 - 15.15 hours
Adults

On Sunday, October 12, Museum Kranenburgh is hosting a lecture with photographer Iwan Baan. In the exhibition Momentum of Light, he is showing a selection of photographs he took in Burkina Faso in 2021 of traditional architecture. Baan captures how the daily cycle of sunlight is central to traditional construction and the daily lives of the inhabitants.

During the lecture, Iwan Baan will provide more insight into his creative process and the challenges he encountered while photographing in Burkina Faso, where he traveled with Burkinabe architect Francis Kéré. He will also discuss his unique approach to storytelling in photography. In his fascination with architecture, Baan explicitly chooses the perspective of the documentary photographer; his attention is focused on the interaction of architecture with its surroundings and the life around it.

After the lecture, there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask Iwan Baan their pressing questions.
